About the event

***GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY!! This open class will double as a sampler for ideas we’ll be exploring more deeply in our September Intermediate Lindy Hop Series, so come check it out this week if you’re interested and might enjoy a deeper dive next month! No commitments necessary!!***

Been dancing regularly for a couple of months or more? Interested in taking your dance to the next level in ways that don’t just look, but *feel* like the pros? Curious why you sometimes struggle to sync up with dancers who looked great on the floor—or how others can create wonderful dance moments together without doing anything flashy?

Join us at Vintage Dance Company this weekend, where instructors Jayce Barillaro and Amye Francis will be leading a class in the “Advanced Foundations” of Lindy Hop! We’ll be digging deep into balance and technique, partner connections, and musicality. We’ll give you the tools and mechanics to create a smooth and stable dance connection, communicate physically with your partner while playing with energy and momentum, and work together to identify and express the emotions and ideas you find in the music. All of this will culminate in a new foundation that will make you a more confident and comfortable dancer, along with the ability to improvise and create your own variations on Swing Outs, Sugar Pushes, and other Lindy Hop patterns outside of the ones you’ve learned in class!

If you’ve never tried a Swing Out, but are super comfortable in your six-count basics, don’t be scared—this class might be a bit more advanced than you’re used to, but it will help you build good habits as a dancer *before* taking other, more variation-focused classes, and we’ll make sure everyone keeps up

Lesson starts at 6pm. Admission is $20, and includes $10 admission to our follow-up 7pm social dance!

Check out the video links below to see some world-class partner and musicality work and get an idea of what you’re in for!
