About the event
Humans have expressed themselves through dance since the dawn of time, sometimes with partners, but in many cases, without. To dance solo is a skill, and any skill can be learned if you’re willing. This workshop will give you what you need, so you won’t have to sit out a song ever again.
In this workshop:
You will learn how to partner with the music to tell a story through movement.
You will learn jam circle etiquette and survival.
You will develop and express your own unique style.
You will gain the skill of creating your own moves.
Are you stuck in your own partner dancing and don’t know how to get to the next level?
Solo dancing can help express more of your authentic self in your partner dancing.
Have you been out and seen someone bust a move, and you wish you could do something like that?
Come learn the decision-making that will give you confidence to step out on that dance floor.
Have you experienced partner dancing before but are petrified to dance without one?
Come learn how to connect to the music in new ways and courageously move on your own.
Note: some movements from this workshop will draw from early 20th century jazz and charleston styles of dancing, but we won’t be limited to these styles, exclusively. Prior experience with early, vintage styles will help you in this workshop but are no means a requirement.
